having a look at the Pools and the closing stages this is what i have come up with for the finalists..

Pool A- Ireland win , Scotland 2nd
Pool B - NZ win , SA 2nd
Pool C - Eng win , Arg 2nd
Pool D - Wales win , Aus 2nd

Winner C vs Runner up D
Winner B vs Runner up A
Winner D vs Runner up C
Winner A vs Runner up B

Eng vs Aus
Nz vs Scotland
Wales vs Arg
Ire vs Sa

Semi Finals -
Winner game 1 vs Winner game 2
Winner game 3 vs Winner game 4

Eng vs NZ
Wales/ Arg vs Ireland (I am battling to find the winner of the Wales vs Arg game)

This leads to the final -
Basing the selection of the "finalists" i amd Dutching both the 1st Semi with the 3 selections for semi final 2 to see which combinations offer some "value"

NZ vs Wales - 7/1
NZ vs Arg - 50/1
Nz vs Ireland - 7/2

Eng vs Ireland - 12/1
Eng vs Wales - 16/1
Eng vs Argentina - 80/1

Looking at these prices, Definatley worth having a go at the NZ vs Arg and the Eng vs Arg combinations..... The others i will be playing around and trying to add to a few multiples to increase the odds a bit... The NZ vs Ireland seems the most obvious choice, however there almost always is a curve ball and the 2 "favourites" dont often end up in the final...

Japan plays Russia in the 1st match. Russia’s claim to fame is that they qualified in place of Romania because the latter were docked points for fielding ineligible players.
In their last 4 matches they lost to Uruguay, Romania, Georgia and Spain.
Japan is -19.5 for this match (should be closer to -30)

2nd match Australia vs. Fiji.
Fiji have made major improvement in the last couple of years – beat France end of last year and recently beat Maori All Blacks 27/10 – then made 10 changes to their team and only lost by 9 (Maori team was stronger 2nd time round)
Aus are -17.5 for this match. They must have their weakest squad for decades.
This handicap should be in the low single figures.

Argentina will be able to select some European based players – the Jaguares had a super Superugby tournament.
They are +3.5 in the 3rd match against France, and I expect them to start favorites after they knock over the Aussies this coming weekend.

Treble Japan-19.5, Fiji+17.5 and Argentina +3.5 = 5.86/1 for a good start to the world cup

Can’t resist the 7/1 Fiji to beat Australia either

With Wales now the highest ranked side in the World going into the RWC but probably only the 4th best side in the Northern hemisphere

Are you Southern softies shitting yourself yet?

Not sure how they come up with rating Wales at the top - imo NZ would beat Wales at least 4 times out of 5 games (or even 9 times out of 10 games) ?

As I have it, only 31 goes to Japan - so 5 of these won't make it - I think Thomas du Toit, Rynhardt Elstad, Vincent Koch, and Marvin Orie are unlikely to make the final squad - but who is the 5th guy - maybe Gqoboka - but that would leave them with only 16 forwards - so maybe a Back - Reinach ?

There’s a lot of speculation on how poor playing conditions will be what with the humidity and lots of rain about and even speculation of some games been abandoned resulting in an official 0-0 result. Wales are even splashing their practice balls with baby oil to simulate conditions.
In the 2011 world cup the total points scored was under 2250 and in 2015 it was 2439 to be exact.
The spread firms have come out with a quote of 2630 for total points and this has already dropped to 2535.
Locally there is one bookie that I can find that has fixed odds of 10/11 on a line of 2535.
If you back the under 2535 total points, it won’t be the worst 10/11 shot you’ve backed in your life.
They are definitely smoking more than the socks I’m supposed to smoke (according to some pundit about my “all Northern hemisphere final prediction”) to come out with a line like this.

Thanks fingers and rather interesting.
The Welsh rubbing their balls with baby oil did catch my attention, do they also have sheep in Japan.
Sure the Aussies will also cotton on to this training method?

Wales backs coach Rob Howley has been sent home from the World Cup for an alleged breach of World Rugby's laws covering betting and anti-corruption.

The 48-year-old's departure is a huge blow just six days before Wales' opening game in Japan against Pool D opponents Georgia.

A Welsh Rugby Union statement said Howley had "returned to Wales to assist with an investigation".

The WRU confirmed it was in relation to a potential breach of betting on rugby.

World Rugby's regulation 6.3.1 reads: "No connected person shall, directly or indirectly, bet and/or attempt to bet on the outcome or any aspect of any connected event and/or receive and/or attempt to receive part or all of the proceeds of any such bet and/or any other benefit in relation to a bet."

The Japanese do not like tattoos so when players who have them go swimming they are going to wear skin suits. They won’t need to cover up when playing matches

Looking forward to the games.

We always have a correct score compo (at the pub) on the BIG games and the nearest wins.

This time EXACT score only and CARRY OVER to next BIG game.

If kitty not won to the FINAL then closest score comes into play.

Good Punting
