Needed to save SA horseracing industry

1. The current model is not working evidenced by the latest Phumulela results, the model is wrong in today’s world

2. The plight of the grooms needs to be investigated by a independent company unrelated to a political party and presented to all at the same time

3. Payment procedures in every aspect of horseracing needs to be reviewed, there is too much money outstanding at all levels

4. Transparency needs to be investigated in all spheres from MR decisions to Directorship appointments

5. SOPs need to be reviewed and adhered to with strict penalties against transgressions

6. Facilities off course need to be inspected and viewed as a private retail company would view their retail stores

7. All tenders need to be reviewed and based on quality, price and affordability

I could go on for days however most people in racing know where we are, in my opinion to avoid the inevitable of the begging bowl being passed around for handouts to pay salaries if the model is not changed to thrive in the current economic situation in SA we will not be racing much longer.

A restructuring around a model that works may also subdue the proliferation of non productive voicemails doing the rounds month after month, this industry either shakes hands and gets to work to achieve the above or shakes hands to say goodbye.

Cheers Oscar.

My problem is the lack of transparency.
We have heard of the saviours of racing, the meetings etc......

Never one set of minutes or action plans to inform racing people in general. A press release?

No matter how big or damaging the "news" or reports are !!!!! It appears business as normal for the powers that be?

The question remains, who is going to stand up and say "we have a problem", who is going to put their hands up and volunteer to resolve?

How much financial trouble is the industry in? Who is funding the current shortfall?

Transparency would be a great start.

Has anyone seen the betting shop (operator?) opposite the Gautrain station in the heart of Sandton? This is the standard to which Phumelela should be aspiring.

My idea of "help from above" is a sniper on the roof
and a higher power is a hell fire missile armed drone.
