TRAINER’S COMMENTS :

RACE 1 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
9 / 11 / 6 / 8

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1, 3 and 7 - ALASKAN FATE, COMET PATH & FLAME
UP : Both Alaskan Fate and Comet Path are nice fillies and if not too
green can be thereabouts. Flame Up has come on well from her debut and
is expected in the first three.
TARA LAING - Number 2 - CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY : Nice filly but she
should need it and could maybe place.
SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 4, 10 and 11 - EFFORT, PERFECTA & SCAR
BOROUGHFAIR : Effort has her first run, she shows pace and if not too
green could run well. Perfecta has come on and better is expected
though this is short for her. Scarboroughfair ran well on debut and
can hopefully follow up.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 5, 8 and 9 - ELDA, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT &
MENDOCINO : All three have their first runs and if not too green will
run well.

RACE 2 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
13 / 11 / 6 / 1

TARA LAING - Number 6 - ZABIVAKA : Although a well beaten third in
his last, the first two have gone on to frank the form very well and
prove their ability, so as a result he must have a chance.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 7, 8 and 11 - JADEED, TIBETAN ROUGE &
DESERT WANDERER : A good run is expected from Jadeed. Hoping for
improvement from Tibetan Rouge. Desert Wanderer ran a good race in her
last, but could prefer Poly.

RACE 3 :

FIRST FOUR SELECTIONS :
7 / 5 / 1 / 9

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 3 and 5 - BOLD CALL & CONQUERING KING : Better
is expected from Bold Call over this trip.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 7 - HIPPIE TRAIL : She is consistent and
definitely has a chance in an open field.

RACE 4 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
1 / 3 / 4 / 2

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2, 3, 4 and 6 - PEPPER OAK, QUICK GLIMPSE, VIA
SACRA & OKLAHOMA SKY : Pepper Oak loves 1000m and is better off at the
weights in these conditions than she has been in merit rated company
lately. Quick Glimpse is in great form, just hoping the 1000m doesn’t
catch her out being a touch short. Via Sacra loves 1000m, she is a
very quick filly. Oklahoma Sky always gives of her best, but does have
a tough task at the weights.
GAVIN SMITH - Number 8 - KILLALA : Enjoys track and trip, but is in
very strong company.

RACE 5 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
7 / 1 / 5 / 6

GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 4 - THE HIGHWAY MAN & ROYAL FORT : The
Highway Man is holding form, he is honest and loves course and
distance. Royal Fort has been thereabouts of late and similar is
expected.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2 and 6 - FALCON ROCK & ADALFIERI : Falcon
Rock races off a break and could just need it. Adalfieri could perhaps
place.

RACE 6 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
5 / 2 / 3 / 1

TARA LAING - Number 1 - LARRY JACK : He won well in his last but as
a result got a hefty six points which could hinder him being effective
here, place chance.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3 and 5 - SEVILLE & AFRICAN MESSIAH : Seville
is better than his last and we are hoping for a run more like his
penultimate. African Messiah is up quite a bit in the ratings for his
good last win, but he can still be competitive.

RACE 7 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
2 / 4 / 1 / 3

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 2 and 5 - UNION JACK & STREAK OF SILVER :
Union Jack ran a good race last time out back up a bit in trip and he
is a runner. Streak of Silver’s last was not his best, he can do
better and is not without chance.
TARA LAING - Number 3 - AFRIKABURN : He was disappointing last time
out but is back to the mile here and we are hoping for a better run.

RACE 8 :

1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
10 / 6 / 2 / 12

ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 6 and 7 - THERMOCLINE, KEEP THE FAITH &
HARTLEYTHREE : Thermocline has a chance, but the draw is a concern.
Keep the Faith is generally very consistent and should be involved
here. Hartleythree must do more.
TARA LAING - Number 10 - STREET GAZE : She is back on turf and we
are hoping for even better from her.

Hippie trail for me... even though it could be the one they decide to run out of the pa today. They should offer a bet on which greef/cheyne horse will run out of the pa on Fridays... I would have a go every Friday

Is Greeff absent from the races today or was too embarressed to show his face on TV?

Why? His comments were spot on race 1 and he supported both runners?

His comments on first timers go in one ear and out the other for me.
He supported all three of his runners.
If anything the main one supported was the one who did the worst,Elda 50-1 into 20-1.
It's obvious he is not telling the whole story when he gives his first timer comments as after the interview Charles Ndlovu said he never thought he could beat Mendocino.
So Mendocino was the stable elect and he got done which I can't say I'm unhappy when Greeff Greeffs himself.
