Sail From Seattle filly Racine proved far too good for her rivals on the Polytrack recently and can follow up on Friday in Race 8 over 1000m on the Fairview Turf track.
Racine was having her first run under the care of trainer Alan Greeff so he must be pleased with what he saw and this four-year-old filly is probably just as good on the turf.
Greeff has two decent three-year-old fillies in the form of Luna Wish and Brandina and he was brave enough to take on the boys last time out. The saddle slipped on Brandina so that run is best ignored. Luna Wish was not at all disgraced, coming home in a promising fourth position and ahead of some smart Western Cape runners.
It is hard to look past them to fight out the finish of Race 4 and although Greg Cheyne, regular rider of both them, is on Brandina, preference is for Luna Wish as this Querari filly has won well twice over this 1400m trip.
The combination of Tara Laing and Chase Maujean continue to have their winners and Brevin could pop up at decent odds in Race 6, a MR 74 Handicap over 1600m.
It is hard to be confident about a horse who was beaten 21.75 lengths last time out but that run was his only one on the Polytrack and he clearly did not enjoy it.
If one looks into the form of his easy win before that he had likely favourite for this race, Giacomo, five lengths behind him.
Maujean could also go close to winning Race 7 with Bold Viking. This Black Minnaloushe gelding was full of running when beating Pick Again by 3.25 lengths on the Polytrack last time out and was touched off by Vikram before that.
This is his toughest test to date but he could be right there at the finish.
